GIRL'S BEDROOM

Berkeley Cottage Home
Come check out this cute cozy English Cottage Home in Berkeley CA.
This project was so special for me because I was doing this after a short break due to market crashing. I named this project "Joy" dedicating this to Joy Oberg, a 75 year old with a 20 year old soul lady I met this year (2024) who bought so much joy in my life. The house and the neighborhood called for an English cottage inspired look. With a small budget in hand and 30 days time frame, I renovated this home.
Exterior:
Exterior turned out so beautiful with those window flower box planters giving that cottage look.
Living room:
For the small living room, I painted the ceiling high gloss to bring in all the light this room needs as the windows were shaded with trees. Light fixtures were very inspired with cottage look. The fireplace lightings were challenging but I really wanted those green glass pendant sconces hanging. Since the ceiling was low, but I still wanted to bring in a show stopper chandelier, and I found this cluster bubble chandelier and it looked beautifully in that space. A little electric cottage fireplace finished the look of this welcoming living room.
Dining room:
The wallpaper was everything! I wanted a little grandma inspired floral pattern but still modern that appeals to many people. As you may have seen my projects, I take risks compare to those boring plain walls you see in contractor grade houses. I found this beautiful wall paper which looked more like painting , it was one of the most expensive wallpaper i have used in my projects. But I wanted to do this wall right. This dining room just does magic. The hanging pendant is Facebook marketplace find that I refurbished with copper paint to go with kitchen faucets and light fixtures, and also bring the cottage look.
Kitchen:
This kitchen is one of the cutest kitchen I have done. Since this was a budget renovation, the cabinets from this home was repurposed as they were in excellent condition. I decided to paint it blue. I was inspired by this color because this looked so English to me. For the backsplash we decided to give the stone wall pattern used plaster to mimic the cottage stone wall look. We added copper pot hanging rods, sink faucet with a huge farmers sink. Some adorable light fixtures to pull everything together. Not to forget the Smeg gas range, I wanted a white one but this was the only one that was coming in early, so I decided to go with it as it kind of pulled in the green tones from the wallpaper. The gas range gives that pop color in the blue and white kitchen.
Bathroom:
We did not do much in this room. We put in small wall panels to cover the texture walls and painted it with "sulking pink". Just bringing in all the english tone colors. I added a hanging pendant and a a gold mirror to complete the look.
Bedrooms:
For both bedroom walls we added wall panelings and it painted it white. Since this house doesnt have an AC we wanted to keep ceiling fans. However, I always like little chandeliers in rooms, so I found fans that look like a chandelier, so win win!
Patio:
We cleaned up the patio, painted the deck, added a wall foundatin and beautiful hanging light fixtures and made it a beautiful, cozy hanging spot for the family.
