GIRL'S BEDROOM

Diamond Oakland Home
An Oakland diamond in the dirt was rescued by keeping some of the old world charm and modernizing this beautiful Spanish revival 1924 home.
This spanish revival Diamond Oakland, CA home needed a lot of TLC. This 100 year old house was a fort! The exterior of the house was built with bricks, unlike any home I have seen here in the USA. It needed a lot of foundation strenghtening, wall repair and cosmetics. We retained some of the retro door trims and fireplace and added more arches, spanish tiles and lightings to with the look.
LIVING : This living room with the beautiful fireplace just needed some new paint, and spanish tiles for the fireplace. We also opened up the arch to the dining area making it more open. The arches to the bathroom and dining room was a nice touch to this spanish revival home. We dressed up the living room with a simple wall mount light fixture as we wanted to create the dining room wall as the focal point.
KITCHEN: We repurposed the cabinets which was in excellent condition, but changed the look by painting it and adding new handles. We used two paints for the cabinet, Sherwin Williams Ripe Olive and Pewter green (50/50) and Benjamini Moore Simply white. We did black for handles, faucet and sink. The heirringbone tile pattern for the walls was a great choice, to merge the green, white and black in the kitchen. We also added a pendant globe light above the sink to finish the look. Not to forget the applicances, the white and steel Kucht stove just stole the show.
DINING: I wanted to create a focal wall that is seen as soon as you enter the house. The dining wall was perfect and the arch between the dining and living was just enough to showcase this beautiful space. I wanted to bring in some spanish tile work on the wall like old spanish homes, but considering this house should appeal to wider audiences for selling, I decided to do a wallpaper that looks like tiles. Just like the old spanish homes, I did the wallpaper tiles just half wall from the bottom. I also picked a chandelier that is modern yet very spanish influence. The most dramatic part of the dining room makeover, was removing the french doors and installing a beauitful square picture window with window seating, perfect spot to read a book or Oakland hills or the retro buildings of Oakland. This room came out stunning.
BEDROOMS: These beauitful rooms came with huge windows bringing enough light inside the room. We elevated the room with BM simply white paint, new floorings and painting the doors same as the kitchen cabinets.
BATHROOM: Keeping the spanish theme, we picked these beautiful spanish tiles. The colors just goes with our cabinets and doors. Since these are heavely patterned, I just decided do wrap around of this tile on the white walls, just enough to bring this bathroom that spanish look. We used these patterned tiles inside the shower too and it looks beautiful. We picked a vanity color that goes with the tiles, added an arch mirror to go with our other arches around the house, and lastly a hanging tube pendants finishes the look of this gorgeous spanish influence bathroom.
NURSERY/ HOME OFFICE: We had a bonus room, good enough to make a great office or a kid room. We installed a open closet in case our new home owners want an extra room. We also installed a beautiful pendant. The room has huge window ledges for books or toys.
OUTDOOR: This part of the house came out so beautiful. We created a private outdoor living with huge wood fence blocking the street view. We installed a deck and some lawn space and a little fountain for a zen time.
