Ultimate guide in defining your home design style in 2022

In the East Bay area, many new construction homes are being developed that are fairly identical in their floor plan with contractor grade walls, paints and light fixtures. Often people message me to ask how to style their home, make it unique and different from their neighbors and calling it their own.

We wanted to create an easy guidelines for home owners to narrow down their design style on their own, so that they can work with an interior designer or themselves to get the most effective and meaningful designs for their home.

Tip #1 - Identify designs that resonates with you

Identify your home design style based on who you are or your personality or what phase of life you are in or want to be in the near future.

Tip #2 - Look around the house

If you already have collected good amount of furniture and decors, then just look around the house and see what style do they speak!

For my recent project " Shah family Danville home", we decided on a modern farmhouse look because the home owner collections had furniture like burnt orange leather couch, black and white photography frames and beige kitchen cabinet that called out loud for a "modern farmhouse" transformation.
